Click the play button below to hear Kevin McNamara's comments, recorded this morning from Tampa. He speaks about Joe Maddon's ability to transform his team from habitual loser to big-time winner, Evan Longoria's celebrity status in Tampa Bay, Mike Timlin's place on the ALCS roster, and the importance of Game 1 to the Rays. Here's what Kevin said about tonight's game: "I think it's huge. I think it's a game that could turn the series. I know it sounds bizarre in a best-of-seven series. But James Shields is their top pitcher, there's no question about it; Daisuke Matsuzaka is not Boston's top pitcher. That's point number one. Point number two -- they are at home. There's an awful lot of hype and hubbub entering this series down here, with good reason. This is their first taste of the playoffs ever. I think this would be a big setback if they lose Game 1, or play poorly and the Red Sox kind of win easily." |
