Here's what Shalise said about the backfield:
"If you're a fantasy football player, them acquiring LaMont Jordan is not good news for you. But for the Patriots, it certainly is going to be interesting. LaMont Jordan will probably be the third-down back Sunday with Kevin Faulk [suspended] not on the field. Between the 20s, I expect you will see a lot of Laurence Maroney; in goal line situations you'll probably see LaMont Jordan; with some Sammy Morris peppered in here and there. Jordan is like a bowling ball -- real stocky, thick guy, and probably just perfect for running in those goal line situations and plowing into the end zone. And when they bring back Kevin, it just makes for them a really good group to put out there. Defenses are going to be adjusting all the time. You have the speed of Maroney, the power of Jordan, Kevin Faulk is elusive and a really great pass blocker. So they all have their strengths, the five of them including Heath Evans, and they all have something to bring to the table."
And about the quarterback situation:
"We could see a scenario where the Patriots bring in a veteran quarterback, a veteran type of backup ... who has the experience has run games before in the regular-season setting. ... Damon Huard, who actually was with the Patriots a few years ago, could end up being on the market come tomorrow afternoon. And something like that -- where you bring in Huard to be the true backup and give Gutierrez another year of seasoning, another year as a number three, and then Kevin O'Connell comes down with the Foxboro flu, or something like that, that lands him on the IR and it becomes a true learning year for him."
