ramirez0909.jpgManny Ramirez enters tonight's game against the San Diego Padres with 521 career home runs, putting him in a four-way tie for 17th place on the all-time list with Ted Williams, Willie McCovey and Frank Thomas. Ramirez, who hit number 521 on Saturday night off Arizona's Brandon Webb. Tonight's opponent is Padres' rookie Wade LeBlanc, who will be making his second major-league start.

The Dodgers are now 19-17 since Manny joined the team on Aug. 1 (the Red Sox, by comparison, are 24-10 since that date). That's been good enough to go from two games out to 1.5 games in first place in the pathetic National League West. They've been 7-2 against their main competitors for the division crown, the Arizona Diamondbacks, since Ramirez's arrival, and Manny has gone an amazing 20 for 32 in the nine games against Arizona -- a .625 batting average -- with five home runs. Overall, Ramirez is .397 with 11 home runs in 36 games as a Dodger.

Here's a look at how Ramirez's career stats compare to Williams'

At-bats: Ramirez 7,549, Williams 7,706
Home runs: Ramirez 521, Williams 521
Batting average: Ramirez .314, Williams .344
RBI: Ramirez 1,706, Williams 1,839
OBP: Ramirez .410, Williams .482
SLG: Ramirez .592, Williams .634
