Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, during his daily news conference at Gillette Stadium, wrapped up his opening statement by recognizing the local baseball team's fifth playoff berth in the last six years: "I congratulate the Red Sox on their playoff appearance in whatever capacity that ends up being.
