The top three seeds, Roberta Hunt, Kibbe Reilly and Lisa McGill, all won their first-round matches today in the rain-delayed R.I. Women's Golf Association Amateur Championship at Kirkbrae. Hunt, the medalist, held off former champion Deb Cyronak, 3 and 1. That left McGill as the only former champion still alive. McGill topped Annie Corio, 6 and 5; Reilly, who tied for second in qualifying with McGill, edged Robyn English, 2 and 1. Others advancing to the quarterfinals are Amanda Sabitoni, Maureen Ford, Jennifer Hendrick, Patricia Keough and Marion Webster. The quarterfinals are being played this afternoon. |
