manny0818.jpgManny Ramirez was 2 for 4 with a home run, a single and three RBI yesterday during the Dodgers' 7-5 home win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The first-inning home run off Brewers starter Jeff Suppan was Manny's sixth since arriving in Los Angeles. He is now batting .424 with a .514 on-base percentage, a .780 slugging percentage and 21 RBI in 16 games with the Dodgers. The team is 10-6 since his arrival; the Red Sox are 10-5 since trading Manny. Jason Bay is batting .328 with a .397 on-base percentage, a .459 slugging percentage one home run and 12 RBI in 15 games with Boston.

The Dodgers hit four home runs in all, including a walk-off by Andre Ethier. They've now hit 22 as a team in 16 games since the Ramirez trade, which is more than double the pace they were on before the Manny deal, according to the Los Angeles Times. Far from destabilizing the clubhouse so far in L.A., he's given the team a new confidence, writes Mark Whicker in the Orange County Register, who says that with Manny's "insouciance and complete lack of self-consciousness that typify Southern California ... he probably should have been one of us all along."

Brandon Moss, the outfielder traded from Boston to Pittsburgh as part of the Ramirez trade, continued to struggle with the Pirates, going 0 for 3 yesterday as the Bucs lost to Johan Santana and the New York Mets, 4-0. Moss is batting .193 with a .292 OBP in 16 games as a starter with the Pirates. Craig Hansen pitched an inning of scoreless relief in the game, his sixth appearance with the Pirates. So far Hansen has been charged with three runs, two earned, in 6.2 innings of work with the Pirates. He's struck out just one batter while walking six.
