The Celtics, who've already announced they'll be holding training camp in Newport, strengthened their Rhode Island ties this morning when they released their 2008-09 exhibition schedule.

One of the eight games will be at the newly renovated Dunkin' Donuts Center -- their first appearance in Providence since 1999 -- when they host LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. The Celts last played in Rhode Island on Oct. 15, 1999, when they hosted the Atlanta Hawks.

The complete exhibition schedule:

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8 -- vs. 76ers at UMass-Amherst, 7 p.m.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10 -- vs. Cavaliers at Dunkin' Donuts Center, 7:30 p.m.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11 -- vs. Rockets at Manchester, NH, 7:30 p.m.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14 -- vs. Cavaliers at Pittsburgh, 7:30 p.m.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16 -- at Nets, 7:30 p.m.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17 -- vs. Knicks at TD Banknorth Garden, 7:30 p.m.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19 -- vs. Nets at TD Banknorth Garden, 3:30 p.m.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21 -- at Knicks, 7:30 p.m.
