The Cranston Western Little Leaguers face Manchester North of New Hampshire at 11 this morning, in a game that can be seen on NESN. Cranston Western, which last night routed Camden of Maine, must win to have a shot at advancing to the New England regional semifinals.

Today is the last day of the pool round of play in the New England regional. The top four teams out of the six from New England will advance to the regional semifinals. Rhode Island, which has already lost to Williston (Vermont) and Shelton National (Connecticut) needs a win to finish an even 2-2. If Cranston Western wins today, and Shelton National defeats West Roxbury (Massachusetts), there would be a four-way tie for second place. Under that scenario, there would probably be a run-ratio tiebreaker to determine which three teams join Shelton National in the regional semis.

At that point, there is a good chance that a tie-breaker will be necessary to determine which teams advance.

Manchester North enters today's game at 2-1. If they defeat Cranston Western, they are in and the Rhode Islanders are out.
