Argentina, which trailed by as much as 21 in the first quarter, went on an 11-0 run early in the second quarter to get back in the game. They had the deficit down to six until Carmelo Anthony was fouled on a 3-point shot attempt just before the buzzer and made all of his free throws. Anthony leads the United States with 13 points, including a perfect seven for seven from the free-throw line. Argentina is 12 for 12 from the line as a team; Luis Scola of the Houston Rockets leads the team with 12 points at halftime. The winner plays Spain for the gold medal. |
