hoops0822.jpgWell, maybe it will be a game after all. Playing without their biggest star, Manu Ginobili, the Argentine team roared back from a huge deficit in the second quarter and goes in the locker room trailing the United States by just nine, 49-40. It's the first time that the Redeem Team has had a halftime lead this small in these Olympics.

Argentina, which trailed by as much as 21 in the first quarter, went on an 11-0 run early in the second quarter to get back in the game. They had the deficit down to six until Carmelo Anthony was fouled on a 3-point shot attempt just before the buzzer and made all of his free throws.

Anthony leads the United States with 13 points, including a perfect seven for seven from the free-throw line. Argentina is 12 for 12 from the line as a team; Luis Scola of the Houston Rockets leads the team with 12 points at halftime.

The winner plays Spain for the gold medal.
