The New York Post is reporting this morning that as the heat soared well into the 90s this weekend in The Bronx, security guards were confiscating sunblock from fans entering Yankee Stadium. The move was intended to protect the stadium from terrorism, according to team officials quoted by The Post. But shortly after the newspaper contacted team officials to ask about the ban, a Yankee spokesman said it would be changed to permit 3-ounce containers.

The Post reported that there were garbage bags full of confiscated sunscreen at the gates to the stadium during the weekend's series against Oakland. Fans were advised to apply sunscreen quickly before surrendering it.

Fans who wanted to apply a second coat during the game could always buy a 1-ounce bottle of SPF 15 for $5, which the Post described as "a huge markup that makes [the stadium's] beer seem cheap.
