As we all know by now, Jonathan Papelbon got some pretty rough treatment from New York fans before and during last week's All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium. It started with his comments about wanting to close the game -- when Yankee fans believed the honor had to go to their own Mariano Rivera (little did anyone know that it would almost come down to J.D. Drew closing). During the pre-All-Star Game "red-carpet parade" in Manhattan, Papelbon said that he was concerned for the safety of his pregnant wife because of the hostility of the New York fans, who were reportedly throwing insults and objects at Papelbon's vehicle. But we may not have heard all of the story. Check this picture on Boston Dirt Dogs Web site, which appears to show Pap taunting the fans in New York with his 2007 World Series ring. |
