The topics: the Red Sox' poor recent showing against winning teams (6-11 over the last month), concerns about Jacoby Ellsbury's confidence, K-Rod's pursuit of the single-season saves record, and the state of the trade market.

Here's what Sean had to say about the trade market:

"I think it's largely undefined with a couple of days to go, but that's the key phrase: a couple of days to go. Often in the last four or five days before the deadline it's pretty chaotic and a lot of names get thrown out there, and there's a lot of sort of ridiculous rumors. And one appeared last night with Miguel Tejada. I spoke to not only people with the Red Sox, but people with the Astros last night, who both swore up and down that name had not come up in any kind of talks with the Red Sox. So these things take on a life of their own, but they also tend to crystallize in the final 24 hours or so. When we get to 4 o'clock Thursday, maybe there will be some activity, but I think [that] teams and general managers almost need that deadline approaching to force them to kind of hone in on what they are going to do and cut through some of the extraneous stuff, and get a deal done at the last minute. I would say that starting tomorrow, teams are going to get a lot more serious. You're probably going to see some teams come down in their asking price for some players, and that will I think make it a little easier to facilitate some deals being done."
