There was no Carl Yastrzemski or Carlton Fisk (Fisk might have worn his White Sox cap anyway), Dick Williams wore an Oakland cap, and Wade Boggs, standing at third, elected to wear a Yankees cap rather than the cap of the team where he spent his most productive seasons. It's not like he even had to choose, either: Dave Winfield had both Yankees and Padres caps, while Gary Carter had both Expos and Mets caps. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but if Boggs had spent most of his career playing for, say, the Orioles before moving to New York, I bet he would have had the Baltimore cap at least in hand along with his Yankee cap. |
