By Brandie Jefferson First it was biking along the Blackstone, now the mayor is tipping off basketball games in Kennedy Plaza. Tonight is the first night of evening basketball, where teams from 10 high school basketball teams will compete at the Bank of America City Center, using portable hoops courtesy of Providence College. "This initiative helps us keep youth engaged in fun, safe activities," Mayor David Cicilline said in a statement, "as we continue to transform Kennedy Plaza into a lively, public gathering place." The games will run from about 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and include adult basketball. Tonight, see Exeter/West Greenwich High School vs. Burrillville High School and Mount Pleasant High School vs. Juanita Sanchez High School. Cicilline will tip off the games and act as honorary referee. |
