HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - University of Connecticut women's basketball recruit Elena Delle Donne says she left summer school in Storrs because of personal issues and will be taking a long break.

The national high school player of the year went home to Wilmington, Delaware, last week after only two days at UConn.

Delle Donne told ESPN on Wednesday that her problems go beyond basketball, and she denied reports that she left campus after an on-court dispute with other UConn players.

It's not clear whether Delle Donne will return to Storrs. A message seeking comment was left at her home Thursday.

UConn spokesman Mike Enright says the school has nothing to comment about, because the issue is a personal one between Delle Donne, her family and Huskies coach Geno Auriemma.
