SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) — Dalton Carriker singled, doubled and hit a three-run homer to lead Warner Robins, Ga., past Walpole, Mass., 8-1 on Wednesday to clinch a semifinal berth at the Little League World Series.

Carriker’s opposite-field shot sailed past the 225-foot fence and bounced in front of a driveway about 15 feet beyond the wall. Another run scored later in the inning on an error as Warner Robins (6-0) built a 6-0 lead.

The Georgia squad calmly exchanged high-fives in the infield after Walpole’s Brian Wolpe grounded into a game-ending double play. “Warner Robins,” cried their jubilant parents and fans in the stands.

Warner Robins plays next in the U.S. semifinals on Thursday, while Walpole (1-2) was eliminated.

Walpole mounted a brief threat in the third after Patrick Hayes Jr. doubled, hustled to third on a sacrifice to left and scored on a double by Matthew Bender to the base of the center-field wall.

But Carriker, who also pitched, got John Adams to ground out to end the inning.

The teams completed a game suspended Tuesday night in the second inning because of rain.
