Curt Schilling pitched two scoreless innings and highly touted prospect Jacoby Ellsbury had a two-run single as the Boston Red Sox played to a 4-4, 10-inning tie with the Minnesota Twins in both teams Grapefruit League opener in Fort Myers, Fla. David Ortiz had an RBI single in the third and Julio Lugo, making his Red Sox debut, also had an RBI single in the inning. Julian Tavarez, competing for the closer's job, gave up a three-run homer to Joe Mauer in the fifth inning. Schilling looked sharp, allowing two hits and no runs. He threw 15 of his 19 pitches for strikes. Brendan Donnelly, also in line for the closer's job, turned in a scoreless inning. |
